Not sure if the original author thought about it this way but thats a pretty nice
analogy to common behaviour in IT - enterprise projects today.
Its pragmatic behaviour extended to a level where things are on the way getting worse!
Of cause i am not talking about technologies mentioned in this quote. Those can be exchanged anyway.

I tried to start Jetty using the same method, but finally deferred to the start script the Ubuntu package dropped in /etc/init.d/jetty. The jetty script is chock full of variables and other goodies needed to run jetty. Unfortunately, even after that my jetty didn't bind to port 8080. :(
I'm with you.. apt-get install tomcat may be the way to go until next release of jetty.
